“Let not the wise boast in their wisdom nor the mighty boast in their might; let not rich boast in their riches. But let them who boasts, boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord who establishes unconditional love, justice, and righteousness on the earth. In these things, I delight,” declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24; 1 Corinthians 1:31
Most people tend to shy away from the idea of boasting; it is generally understood to be prideful and, therefore, a behavior worth avoiding. However, the fact is that everyone boasts. Basically, we boast about that which is most important to us, the people and things we most enjoy: a sports team, a leader, styles of food, achievements, rank or position, and philosophies (political, social, cultural, and theological). Philosophy focuses on developing beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group, which become the platform upon which individuals stand and boast, hopefully with maturity within debates and even protests, but all too often, with immaturity that ranges from verbal assault to physical violence.
Christian Boast is dedicated to providing sound biblical arguments through Let’s Talk . . . articles and thought-provoking devotions. People of faith need to have confidence in the Lord and in the eternal principles that He has given to humanity through the Word of God, which I believe to be fully inerrant in its original languages. Throughout human history, individuals have been eager to boast in and lust for wisdom, might, and riches, which together equate to the lust for the possession and use of power, which has always lead to the corruption and collapse of people groups and their institutions. However, the genuine Possessor of wisdom, might, and power is the Creator and Lord of all we see and possess.
For this reason, people of faith must intelligently and accurately debate or argue from the Creator’s point of view, from the philosophy of life that brings genuine and lasting freedom in this life and into eternity. Therefore, people of faith can/must unashamedly and unapologetically BOAST (confidently debate/argue) in the truth that is innately and eternally the Lord’s alone.
It is ChristianBoast’s hope that, as we bring truth to bear on the many “isms” around the world through the articles and devotions we study together, we will honor the Lord with sound and persuasive arguments, the results of which we leave with the Lord.
